• Sravasti-Shravasti is primarily famous for its significance in Buddhism, particularly as a location where the Buddha performed miracles and taught many of his sermons. It's also a key site for Jainism, and was once the capital of the ancient kingdom of Kosala.
• Lumbini- Siddhartha Gautama, the Lord Buddha, was born in 623 B.C. in the famous gardens of Lumbini, which soon became a place of pilgrimage. Among the pilgrims was the Indian emperor Ashoka, who erected one of his commemorative inscribed Ashoka pillars there. The inscription on the pillar is the oldest in Nepal
• Kushinagar-Kushinagar is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site because it's believed to be the location where Gautama Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana, or the final liberation, after his death. This makes it one of the four most important Buddhist holy places worldwide
• Varanasi - Varanasi is famously known as a sacred city in Hinduism, with the Kashi Vishwanath Temple being a major pilgrimage site. It's also renowned for its ghats (steps leading to the Ganges River), where rituals and ceremonies are performed, and the beautiful silk Banarasi sarees
• Bodhgaya- Bodh Gaya is most famous as the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment, becoming the Buddha. It's a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists and is home to the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which marks the location of the Bodhi Tree, where Buddha achieved enlightenment
